New training courses for facilitators

NEW FACILITATOR TRAINING

This 6 week course, organised and supervised by a Barnardo’s trainer, begins on Thursday 24 January 2013 in St.Malachy’s Parish Centre at 7.30pm. The costs of the course are met by Families FIrst.

Topics covered include – Understanding group based parent support: Child development: Safeguarding and Families First: Parenting theories: Adult learning: Group facilitation skills: Group dynamics: Resources.

Participants will be expected to shadow an experienced facilitator as part of the course.

The training is aimed primarily at volunteers who could deliver courses to groups of parents during the school day, preferably in the mornings.  Usually these courses take place in primary schools, pre-schools, nurseries, playgroups etc. in the Greater Belfast area.

There are no entry qualifications for this course but volunteers must have experience/interest in this type of work.  If you are interested in applying please complete and submit the application form. Applicants will be expected to attend for a short interview and be vetted by Access NI (in line with our child protection procedures).  The cost of the vetting will be met by Families First.
